the origin story

From a young age, I found myself captivated by the wedding album of my parents. I would run my fingers over the pages, feeling the texture of each photograph, and imagining the joy and love that was captured in those moments. Though many of the photos were posed, I could still sense the genuine happiness and excitement of that day. I learned early on that photographs have the power to transport us back to some of the most cherished moments of our lives.

As a bride myself, I began to understand just how precious these images truly are. Wedding photographs are not merely pictures—they are the tangible connection to your legacy. They tell the story of the beginning of your family, of the promises made and the lives intertwined. They are the history we pass down, from one generation to the next.

But I also realized the significance of what’s missing in my own family’s history. Sadly, I don’t have a single photograph of my grandparents on their wedding day. I can’t see what my Nana’s dress looked like, how my Papa looked at her as she walked down the aisle, or the intricate details of their ceremony. This is why, to me, capturing these moments for my couples is so much more than just taking beautiful photos—it’s about preserving the essence of a day that will be remembered for lifetimes.

At Ellen Ashton Photography, I believe in the power of photographs to evoke emotions—moments frozen in time that transport you back to the feelings you experienced that day. My goal is to create images that will make you feel as if you are reliving the excitement, the joy, and the love you shared. I capture not just the details, but the feeling of the day, so every time you look at your photos, you feel the emotions that were so vivid and real in the moment.
